All aboard the Econ Express – Railroads Delivering the Goods

According to the Journal of Commerce, railroads connecting U.S. manufacturing facilities and commerce destinations will be carrying the freight for a positive portion of the domestic economy for the balance of 2012 and likely through 2013 (Possibly beyond?). This movement is fueled by intermodal, automobile and domestic energy-related traffic. Their engines of growth - volatile fuel prices and tightening truck capacity, the need to replace aging vehicles and booming natural gas production - aren't likely to let up.
